Adopt-A-Highway

Our Adopt-A-Highway volunteers coordinate this cleanup effort.

The time commitment is minimal and the contribution to the community is much appreciated.

Bank of America Chicago Marathon

Every year, the Alpine Runners volunteer at the first aid station at the Chicago Marathon at the first mile along State Street. The station is an up-close vantage point to see elite runners come through, and then help runners from all over the world keep hydrated. The jacket swag is worth the early morning shift! After cleanup, volunteers are free to go, or can view the marathon from other locations to watch runners.

Group Run Pace Leader Volunteers

One of the key reasons runners join club is to prepare for the marathon. Most season runners understand the importance of practicing pacing, building up for the marathon.

For the marathon-training season, pace leaders are needed who can maintain a consistent pace specific to a group for the duration of the run.

Groups should have multiple pace leaders in case substitutions are needed.

It is a great opportunity to give back to the club and the running community.
