The Alpine Runners Club has made a commitment to the State of Illinois to pick up the trash along a portion of Route 22 periodically throughout the year.
Our Adopt-A-Highway volunteers coordinate this cleanup effort.

The time commitment is minimal and the contribution to the community is much appreciated.

Bank of America Chicago Marathon

Every year, the Alpine Runners volunteer at the first aid station at the Chicago Marathon at the first mile along State Street. The station is an up-close vantage point to see elite runners come through, and then help runners from all over the world keep hydrated. The jacket swag is worth the early morning shift! After cleanup, volunteers are free to go, or can view the marathon from other locations to watch runners.

Communications & Social Media

The Communications volunteers delivers regular information to members, including:

  • Weekly email announcements with updates on current and upcoming activities, added discounts, club news.
  • Blog with member highlights and educational articles
  • Social Media ;  Club's Facebook page, Instagram etc.

Group Run Pace Leader Volunteers

One of the key reasons runners join club is to prepare for the marathon. Most season runners understand the importance of practicing pacing, building up for the marathon.

For the marathon-training season, pace leaders are needed who can maintain a consistent pace specific to a group for the duration of the run.

Groups should have multiple pace leaders in case substitutions are needed.

It is a great opportunity to give back to the club and the running community.

Kids Training Camp

The club hosts a free kids’ summer training camp to engage children ages 6–14 in fun activities that prepare them for running. Kids engage in games, drills and timed runs appropriate to their ages. Volunteers (including the parents of the participants) are needed to help with the activities.

Club Membership

The membership committee tracks membership in the club. Encourages and outreach to enhance runners experience with club membership. Runs promotions etc.

The Sponsorship Fund volunteers work with local businesses and club members to raise money that support our club races, events and charitable activities.

Social Events

The club hosts several social events throughout the year to bring runners together before or after group runs and to help support our various sponsors.

Members enjoy fun run, dine together, and build lasting friendship.
